When I was buying beer at Winn-dixie today I used the self-checkout as normal. I like it because you can use all of your change in the machine and get rid of the penny’s and loose change you have. When I put in one of my quarters it was returned in the coin slot. I tried it again and the same thing. I looked at it and it wasn’t Canadian, looked closer and saw that the date was 1943. A light bulb came on in my head. Came home and looked it up online and its valued at $4.79 because of the silver content according to www.coinstudy.com/1943-quarter-value.html. In any condition. Now I just need to find some one to give me beer money for it. Kinda sucks mine doesn’t have a “Mint Mark”.

$4.79 is the minimum 1943 quarter value. It is the underlining silver price moving your coin to this level.

If yours is the “D” or “S” mintmark issue, and “Uncirculated”, it is now worth in the $30 to $40 range. Of the three mints coining Washington quarters in 1943, the Denver Mint “D” is the most valuable.

I was walking through the park on the way to the store and saw a raccoon in a tree along the trail. It climbed to the top of it to pick off the fresh buds. Food must be getting scarce.

A couple of days ago I woke up and looked outside the boat and saw a empty kayak floating out in the bay. At first I wasn’t even sure it was a kayak because it was so big. I watched it as came further out into the bay and once it started to gain speed towards the inlet I kayaked over to it. I got up to it and it had a FPS stamp on it so I figured it was the parks. At the same time Blue Boat John started rowing over in his inflatable rowboat. He said he saw it over by The new park ranger “Lucas”‘s boat the night before.

The new park ranger “Lucas” just bought Bob’s old boat. Bob sold it to “Dustin” that was a park ranger for a few months and then left, and it has been derelict since.

I turned the kayak over to John to take it back and tie it up to Lucas’s boat and called the park to let them know. I ran into Lucas the next day and he said thank you and he would buy us beer.

This morning when I was kayaking ashore to take out my garbage and get a jug of water I saw another empty kayak floating in the bay. This time a red one that I knew was Lucas’s. I saw It on the shore back by the cabins on Friday and was going to say something to him then. You can’t just leave a kayak on shore and expect it to be there when you return. I kayaked over to it and towed it back to his boat to tie it up. Went ashore to finish getting water and taking out the trash and when I got back to to the boat called Lucas up and let him know.

Losing 2 kayaks in a week isn’t good. $600-700 fuck up. How much beer is that worth?

I was sitting in the back cockpit of the boat having a beer when I heard some sizzling noise and saw a puff of smoke from the wire junction of 2 of my small solar panels. The wires were all twisted up from moving the panels around all the time and the splice where two of the panels are combined started to short out. Almost the same scenario as the last fire. I really need to run separate cables for each panel to a fuse block.

Another weekend warrior anchored right in front of me. It was a group of older people that got out a Casio keyboard and started to sign along to the pre-programed songs in it like “Red River Valley” and “Oh, Suzanna”. It felt like I was in a nursing home.
