Current Anchorage: Miami, Florida

Last night a catamaran came into the bay and had a hard time trying to anchor. First it was on the south end of the bay. It drug a couple of times and then they moved over right in front of me. Winds were about 20mph and I was up all night waiting for it to break loose and drag into my anchor line. The next day they went ashore to FIU and landing right in front of the no trespassing sign.

I Looked outside the boat and there was a boat over at the catamaran anchored next to me that was snagged on its anchor. They drug one the catamarans 2 anchors completely to the back of the boat. I called up the owner to let him know since it was kinda windy and he came out and re-anchored it. Its terrible how the weekend warrior drag into other boats, break their anchors loose, and just take off. Hit and run for boats.

Today the boat FL4258JG came behind my boat with a diving flag on it and 2 Latin males. One of them put on snorkeling gear and dove to where one of the under water crab traps were set a few months back.

As soon as they saw that I was taking pictures they hauled ass going about 50mph 10ft away from my boat causing a huge wake.

I called Indian Creek Marine patrol and let them know. They told me to call FWC so I did that too.

I also forwarded the info to the State park with the timeline of the crab trappers that have been in the bay.

The boat “True Love” continues to anchor close to my boat every Sunday @ 2pm. This time they dropped their anchor a few feet from my anchor buoy.

Another boat was close by that was in the spot for a few hours before and the couple aboard ended up having  to move when “True Love’s”  friend “Second Chance” came to raft up with them.  Lots of room in the bay, why always so close?

A weekend warrior got its anchor hooked on a cable or something when they were raising it to leave. They gunned the engine a couple times driving around in circles to try to break it loose. They got up some speed and when the line was tight it snapped sending there anchor to the bottom of the bay. They’re lucky that’s all that happened and they didn’t get hurt, bust their windlass, or damage their engine.
